Location: National Horseracing College, Doncaster, DN11 OHN
Project: The supply and fit of 24 stables (8 blocks of 3 mobile stables).
Specifications: The customer required a high specification because the stables are used to house racehorses, so we started off with a standard mobile stable then upgraded with thicker kickboards to the eaves, lined canopies, thicker shiplap cladding, bigger roof purlins and bigger framings:
- Adjustable stable door hinges
- Roof purlins in prefabricated steel joist hangers
- Galvanised, barred stable windows with sliding Perspex cover
- Roof lining
- Heavy-duty, galvanised steel skis
- Tanalised® timber
- Shiplap cladding
- Stable ventilation
- Lined canopies
The story:
At the beginning of August 2022, we took a phone call from Colonel Stephen Padgett, Chief Executive of the National Horseracing College (NHRC). He explained that a fire had broken out at the site because of power lines crossing the site a few weeks earlier and had caused significant damage to one of the barns and all of their stabling had perished. Thankfully, all learners, staff and horses were safe and unharmed.
The college needed mobile stables to get them back on their feet again and were obviously needing them swiftly. We were able to shuffle around our diary and were able to start delivering the building within four weeks.
In total, we supplied 24 stables which were 8 blocks of 3 mobile stables.
Our Director, Lee Taylor adds:
“We were delighted to help our colleagues at the NHRC following the fire that broke out back in the summer. Despite being our biggest stable project of 2022, with two installers on site always and the entire workshop team on the project at once, we understood the urgency of the project and managed to change our project schedule around to ensure sufficient shelter for the horses was manufactured as quickly as possible for them”.
